The cherry tree outside my studio is in full bloom.
As the blossom falls so comes to an end the Heisei Era of Japan. As the new green emerges so begins the Reiwa Era. Both of these eras have “peace” in their title. How wonderful!
At present I am thinking a great deal about Japan and the years I have spent there. I am putting my ideas into paintings inspired by shrines visited last summer with Don, my husband. We were tracing the history of the imperial dynasty and its reflections in these wonderfully mysterious and beautiful places.
